OUR PHILOSOPHY
When local artists, artistic expression, and culture are supported, the entire community benefits and flourishes.
Founded in 2017, Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership (SRUAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering artists and promoting community engagement in the arts through partnerships, events, and programming. We create space and opportunity for artists to inspire, highlight, celebrate, and preserve.

What we Do
Our annual neighborhood festival, Winterblast, is a dynamic and spirited community gathering and celebration of art featuring local artists, musicians, and performers in the SofA district. The highlight is the eclectic parade showcasing decorated sofas and street performers. A community favorite for the past 20 years. Everyone is welcome!
In September of 2024, we organized the first Santa Rosa Open Studios, two weekends of self-guided tours of 70 studios preceded by a vibrant reception and preview party. The application process was intentionally designed to be accessible to all, and we were thrilled to see the incredible mix of professional artists and folks exhibiting for their very first time. This is now an annual event.

Art Alley Mural Project
SRUAP partnered with Christie Marks and Merrill Vargo on a community mural project that will be on a 108-foot-long wall in the SofA district’s Art Alley. Working with a number of artists who submitted designs, lead artist Marla Allison is creating a wonderful collaborative representation of the SofA district and all the creativity that is inspired by our community.
Just as art has the power to improve quality of life and benefit communities, so do trees! SRUAP is collaborating with California ReLeaf to plant more trees in Santa Rosa. California ReLeaf’s mission is to support grassroots efforts and build strategic partnerships that protect, enhance, and grow California’s urban and community forests.

Workshops
We periodically offer art-focused workshops and classes to engage the public and create community. Our focus is on creating welcoming, inclusive spaces that invite everyone to tap into their inner creativity and nurture the artist within, regardless of background or training. Making art together is a powerful community-building activity.

Partnerships
Partnering with private and civic organizations is so key to what we do that we included “partnership” in our name! SRUAP actively teams up with artists and organizations that can benefit from shared resources. Combining our networks, skill sets, and expertise always leads to greater results.
